Wesleyan University celebrated 125 years of learning, leadership, faith
and service during Blue & White Days in 2010. In honor of this milestone,
professor emeritus of history Jim McLaird spent nearly
two years compiling photos and stories into a “memory book”
– weaving a tale of DWU’s past through the perspective of
its students.
The book is separated into parts to give it a coffee-table
feel, rather than textbook. Each chapter is composed of a decade’s
worth of memories and history with a narrative describing the life and
times, buildings, financial situations and larger issues of the time,
and there also sidebars and “snippets,” which contain short
stories or narratives and fun facts.
Each decade is also accompanied by four short biographical
essays about influential DWU alums.
