DWU soccer camps combined into one session

MITCHELL, S.D. – Rather than hosting two separate sessions of their Youth Soccer Camp in Mitchell, the Dakota Wesleyan University soccer programs have decided to combine the two sessions to provide the best possible experience for the campers.

Originally, DWU soccer had scheduled two separate Youth Soccer Camps to be held in Mitchell with the first one running June 15-18 and the second one to follow on Aug. 10-13. Now, both camps will be combined and will take place Aug. 10-13.

Each day, the camp will run from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Cadwell Park Soccer Complex, and it is open to children ages 5 and up. The camp will be led by DWU head women’s soccer coach Dale Roden and DWU head men’s soccer coach Jeremy Tosaya, and there will be Tiger players assisting.

The goal of the camp is to provide the basic fundamentals and skills to boys and girls so they can reach their maximum potential as soccer players. Players will receive both team and individual instruction through games, drills, small-sided games and team/individual competitions.

The cost of the camp is $50 per participant before the Aug. 3 application deadline, or $60 for late registrations up to the day of the camp. If a family has multiple children attending, it will cost $50 for the first child and $30 for any additional children. The cost of the camp includes quality instruction, fellowship and exercise, a certificate of achievement and daily prizes. The first 100 campers registered will receive a camp T-shirt, a camp soccer ball and a camp water bottle.

In addition to the Aug. 10-13 camp in Mitchell, DWU will also host a youth camp July 21-24 in Huron at the Pepsi Soccer Complex. The application deadline for the Huron camp is July 13, and all the other details are identical to the Mitchell camp.
