DWU Huron site nursing department
hosts Navigating the Nursing Maze

MITCHELL – Navigating the Nursing Maze, an afternoon for pre-nursing and prospective students, begins at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 13 at the Huron Community Campus, 939 Ohio SW, in Huron.

The event includes a tour of the skill stations in the nursing labs and discussions with admissions staff and nursing faculty about the DWU nursing program in Huron and the general application process. Pizza and beverages will be served at 5 p.m.

The nursing program at DWU expanded to Huron in 2005. DWU’s nursing graduates have a consistently high pass rate on the National Council Licensing Exam (NCLEX) for licensure as a registered nurse (RN), traditionally among the best in the state.

The associate degree nursing program provides a curriculum designed to prepare the graduate for general staff nurse positions in hospitals, long term care facilities and community agencies. Students accepted into the two-year nursing curriculum, available in Mitchell and Huron, can complete the required 71 credit hours in the nursing program within two years and two summer sessions.

An online bachelor’s program is available for those who want to continue their education.

The event is sponsored by the DWU Nursing Department, Huron site. Preregistration for the afternoon is encouraged; call 800-333-8506 or e-mail Cain Quiroz at caquiroz@dwu.edu.
