Nov. 24, 2008 Kernes, Jacobson named DWU quarterly winners
MITCHELL – Yolie Kernes and Adele Jacobson are the winners of the Professional Excellence Awards for the first quarter at Dakota Wesleyan University. Yolie Kernes, TRiO Student Support director, is the staff winner. Kernes was cited for being an advocate for diversity, a resource for cross-cultural communication and a strong and effective mentor for Wesleyan’s diverse student population. Adele Jacobson, associate professor of nursing, is the faculty winner. Jacobson was cited for her leadership in the accreditation process and on the assessment committee, dedication to professional excellence in herself and her nursing staff, and her advocacy for the Huron and Sioux Falls nursing programs. The Professional Excellence Award is given three times a year to a faculty and staff member. The quarterly winners are then considered for the year-end awards for faculty and staff. Winners are given campus recognition and a gift certificate. The award recognizes employees for “outstanding service, for exemplary commitment to the university and for making a difference in the lives of students.” The DWU Employee Recognition Committee selects the quarterly winners from nominations submitted by faculty, staff members and students. |
