DWU homecoming candidates named

MITCHELL – Candidates for homecoming king and queen have been selected at Dakota Wesleyan University.

Coronation will be at 7 p.m. on Oct. 5 in the Sherman Center. The theme of this year’s homecoming is “Kickin’ It Old Skool.”

Homecoming queen candidates are:

  • Heather Bohlander, Cavour. Bohlander is an elementary education major. She is the daughter of Karen Bohlander and Ben Bohlander.
  • Whitney Gard, Canton. Gard is majoring in business administration. She is the daughter of Dave and Ginger Gard.
  • Laura Guericke, White Lake. Guericke is an athletic training major. She is the daughter of Dan and Jane Guericke.
  • Chelsea Harmdierks, Wessington Springs. Harmdierks is a business administration major. She is the daughter of Orville and Vicki Harmdierks.
  • Heidi Lusk, Vienna. Lusk is a business administration major. She is the daughter of Roberta Lusk.
  • Sarah Mortenson, Selby. Mortenson is a business administration major. She is the daughter of George and Susan Mortenson.

Homecoming king candidates are:

  • Eric Adolph, Flandreau. Adolph is a sport, exercise and wellness major. He is the son of Walter and Georgia Adolph.
  • Heath Eggleston, Howard, Colo. Eggleston is majoring in biochemistry. He is the son of Larry and Debra Eggleston.
  • David Hoffman, Mitchell. Hoffman is a business administration major. He is the son of Mike and Kathy Hoffman.
  • Christopher Sheckler, Rock Springs, Wyo. Sheckler is a sport, exercise and wellness major. He is the son of Bill and Mindy Sheckler.
  • Alan Swartz, Dell Rapids. Swartz is a human services major. He is the son of Doug and Judy Swartz.
  • Daniel Wysong, Albuquerque, N.M. Wysong is majoring in business administration. He is the son of Gery and Terry Wysong.

Candidates for the beanie king and queen have also been selected. Candidates are freshmen, and traditionally they wear a beanie to all homecoming events. The beanie king and beanie queen will be crowned at the beanie picnic at 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6 at Jackson Plaza, outside the Rollins Campus Center.

Beanie queen candidates are Teagan Aguiunaga, San Antonio; Muriel Kjerstad, Wall; Maggie Malloy, Parkston; Kayla Pahl, Skye Pahl, and Brooke Warne, all of Rapid City. Beanie king candidates are Christopher Ferera and Tyler Klix, Riverside, Calif.; Lance Mohr, Aberdeen; Kirby Norris, Gillette, Wyo.; Aaron Rolen, Bogata, Texas; and William White Buffalo, Murdo.
