DWU’s Human Services Club
wraps up food drive
MITCHELL — The Dakota Wesleyan Human Services Club students wrapped
up their food drive on Thursday, Dec. 3. The project was a food drive
with a competitive edge – creating a competition of raising food
items between students and the faculty and staff. The students won the
competition with a total of 291 items and the faculty/staff contributed
248 for a grand total of 539.
The club secured a grant that will match up to $900 in food stuffs, so
students went shopping Saturday, Dec. 5, to fill the quota and deliver
the donations/purchases to the Mitchell Area Food Pantry.
The breakdown of what was donated includes: 185 cans of fruit and vegetables,
122 cans of soup and spaghetti, 154 boxes/bags of meal helpers, 15 cans
of meat and 63 miscellaneous items.
