MITCHELL – The South Dakota Symphony Orchestra’s Dakota Chamber Orchestra will perform at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 5 at the Sherman Center on the campus of Dakota Wesleyan University.

Delta David Gier will conduct, and featured soloists will be SDSO principal oboist Jeffrey Paul and SDSO principal cellist Maxim Kozlov.

The repertoire will include Mozart’s “Oboe Concerto in C Major” and “Symphony No. 40 in G Minor;” Camille Saint-Sa?ns’ “Cello Concerto No. 1 in A Minor;” and Carson Kievman’s “Chamber Symphony 7.”

“It is always such a privilege to make music with our SDSO musicians,” said Gier. “To have the opportunity to feature Maxim Kozlov and Jeff Paul as soloists is a real treat for me.”

The musical celebration is bookended by Mozart and includes a world premiere of Carson Kievman's "Dear John," written to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the death of John Lennon.

This concert is sponsored by Home Federal Bank. South Dakota Arts Council support is provided with funds from the State of South Dakota, through the department of Tourism and State Development, and the National Endowment for the Arts. The Symphony’s touring programs are supported by grants from the Bush Foundation.
