King, queen candidates named for DWU homecoming

MITCHELL – Candidates for homecoming king and queen have been selected at Dakota Wesleyan University.

Coronation will be at 7 p.m. on Sept. 27 in the Sherman Center. The theme of this year’s homecoming is “Chillin’ in paradise.”

Homecoming queen candidates are:

  • Jenny Longville, Kennebec. Longville is an elementary education major and is a DWU cheerleader. She is the daughter of Todd and Teresa Longville and graduated from Lyman High School.
      
  • Heather Love, Norfolk, Neb. Love is majoring in athletic training and biology. She is a member of the Athletic Training Club and DWU golf team and is also a Student Ambassador, and TRiO peer mentor and tutor. She is the daughter of Gary and Cathy Love and graduated from Norfolk Catholic High School.
      
  • Kelsey Miller, Belle Fourche. Miller is a public service and leadership major and music minor. She is involved in Student Ministry Council, worship team, choir, Highlanders, theatre, APO, College Republicans, and Students for Life, as well as being a Student Ambassador. She is the daughter of Mike and Eileen Miller and graduated from Belle Fourche High School.
      
  • Kelsie Jo Nebelsick, Canistota. Nebelsick is an athletic training major. She is the Student Ministry Council chairman, assistant volleyball coach, a TRiO mentor, Student Ambassador and a member of the Athletic Training Club. She is the daughter of Larry and Dawn Nebelsick and graduated from Canistota High School.
      
  • Danny Richardson, Wichita, Kan. Richardson is a criminal justice major and theatre minor. She is a member of the DWU women’s soccer team, the South Dakota National Guard, Impulse Improv and APO. She is the daughter of Les and Claudia Richardson and graduated from Maize High School.

Homecoming king candidates are:

  • Derek Ashley, Kimball. Ashley is a sport, exercise and wellness major, and business minor. He has played football for three years and has also been a member of the wrestling team. He is the son of Jeff and Brenda Ashley and graduated from Kimball High School.
      
  • Eric Gillen, Bridgewater. Gillen is a business administration major and allied health minor and is a member of the DWU football team. He is the son of Dane and Brenda Gillen and graduated from Bridgewater High School.
      
  • Taylor Olson, Arlington. Olson is a nursing major and enjoys multiple outdoor activities, such as golf, softball and hunting. He is the son of Bryce and Tammy Olson and graduated from Arlington High School.
      
  • Nick Tolsma, Rapid City. Tolsma is a biochemistry major. He is currently a member of the football team and was a member of the baseball team his freshman year. He is the son of Lyle and Marcia Tolsma and graduated from St. Thomas More, Rapid City.
      
  • Stephen Viereck, Sioux Falls. Viereck is an athletic training major and business and chemistry minor. He is a member of the DWU football team. He is the son of Jim and Suzy Viereck and graduated from O’Gorman High School, Sioux Falls.
