Feb. 26, 2010 Around the World cultural festival at DWU MITCHELL — The annual Around the World cultural festival will be back on Dakota Wesleyan’s campus soon, providing the campus, as well as local community, with the opportunity to experience the food, art and music of multiple countries. The Around the World cultural festival is from noon to 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 4, in the East Main Dining Room. The festival has been taking place since 2002 and is sponsored by the DWU Multicultural Committee. “The Dakota Wesleyan Multicultural Committee works hard to encourage understanding and appreciation of all cultures,” said Kate Miller. “The annual Around the World event is a really fun way to foster awareness, honor, respect and acceptance of cultural diversity on campus and within the community.” The public is invited to join DWU students as they visit booths representing Tanzania, Native American tribes, Denmark/Sweden, Peru, Bahamas, Norway, Ireland, Czechoslovakia, Puerto Rico, Japan, Italy, Germany, Ancient Rome and Israel. “Attendees can expect to learn something new, meet great people and leave with a smile,” Miller said. If you would like to represent your culture or one you are interested in, sign up by contacting Miller at 995-2901 or kate.miller@dwu.edu. |
