Literary publication, ‘Prairie Winds,’ available now

MITCHELL — The Dakota Wesleyan literary publication, “Prairie Winds,” is now available.

“Prairie Winds” is the annual publication funded by the DWU English department. Copies may be picked up around campus in Smith Hall and the McGovern Library and available online at www.dwu.edu/prairiewinds.

This year’s editor was Derric Ludens, who graduated in May with a double major in English and history; he was also the winner of the 2010 Scotchman award. The faculty adviser was Dr. Joseph M. Ditta. Poetry, fiction and photography are welcome for submission to the selection committee and the publication prints every spring.

This year’s contributors include the following students: Brandy Bambas, Charity Kear, Ariel Ptak, Lacey Reuer and Trisha Schleich; and alumni, Jenna Anderson and Andrew Bakken. Also contributing were South Dakota artist Danna McCloud; B.Z. Niditch, a professional writer and playwright; Dean Phelps, internationally-published writer; and David Sapp, a writer and artist. Reprints of former “Prairie Winds” editors, Henry Hughes, Monmouth, Ore., and James Van Oort, Mitchell, also appear.
