March 16, 2010 Singer-songwriter Mitch McVicker to perform on campus
The Dove Award winning singer-songwriter Mitch McVicker will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 27, at the Dakota Wesleyan University Sherman Center. The concert is free and open to the public. McVicker released his first album in 1997 and his sixth, “Always Believe,” hit shelves in September. “I chose him with the approval of my student activities board,” said Adam Jones, director of residence life and student activities. “He’s a good friend of mine, but beyond that, he is a talented singer/songwriter/storyteller. He shares the message of Jesus through his songs and stories.” McVicker is currently touring solo, playing his music in an acoustic style. His most popular song, “My Deliverer,” was used in the soundtrack for the Dreamworks movie “Prince of Egypt.” “He brings a very unique sound with him and doesn’t conform to traditional styles of music, but combines many different styles like folk, bluegrass and contemporary acoustic,” Jones said.
