Feb. 9, 2012 DWU Huron site nursing department hosts Navigating the Nursing MazeMITCHELL — The Dakota Wesleyan University Nursing Department is now accepting applications for fall semester 2012 and is offering an opportunity for prospective nurses to learn more about what DWU can offer in the DWU-Huron nursing program. “Navigate the Nursing Maze” will begin at 3:45 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 28, at Huron Community Campus, 939 Ohio S.W. Registration begins at 3:45 p.m., a meet-and-greet with admissions staff and nursing faculty at 4 p.m., and “Navigate the Nursing Maze” at 4:30 p.m. followed by pizza and a Q&A with nursing staff. The event includes a tour of the nursing and science labs and discussions with admissions staff and nursing faculty about the DWU nursing program in Huron and the general application process. The nursing program at DWU expanded to Huron in 2005. DWU’s nursing graduates have a consistently high pass rate on the National Council Licensing Exam (NCLEX) for licensure as a registered nurse (RN), traditionally among the best in the state. The associate degree nursing program provides a curriculum designed to prepare the graduate for general staff nurse positions in hospitals, long-term care facilities and community agencies. Students accepted into the two-year nursing curriculum, available in Mitchell and Huron, can complete the required 71 credit hours in the nursing program within two years and two summer sessions. An online bachelor’s program is available for those who want to continue their education. To R.S.V.P., call DWU enrollment services and visit with Jory Hansen at 1-800-333-8506, or e-mail him at johansen@dwu.edu.
