Telling a Story – A
Professor’s Journey to Writing 125 Years of History
Jim McLaird ’62, HD’05, professor emeritus of history,
has discovered numerous new facets to the history of Dakota Wesleyan
University by researching the college years from a student’s
perspective. His research and writing have been ongoing for more
than a year to create a coffee-table tale of DWU history, experiences
and photographs.

Women's Soccer: A Hollywood
Ending
The greatest sports movies ever made all seem to follow the same
formula. “Hoosiers,” “Rocky,” “Major
League” and “The Mighty Ducks” all stuck to
a similar script. A loveable underdog struggles from the start,
but eventually it turns a corner and starts showing signs of improvement.
DWU women’s soccer joined a class of legendary stories when
they rose up to take the championship this fall.

Face Value: Robert Parkinson
Robert Parkinson belongs to a treasured few. At 101 years old,
the 1933 graduate is one of Dakota Wesleyan University’s
oldest living alums. It’s not often someone lives for more
than 10 decades, remembering World War I and II, women’s
suffrage, The Great Depression, civil rights, Watergate and everything
in between and since.
