Heritage Day Scholarship Event

Monday, Feb. 15, 2010

The Heritage Day scholarship event is designed for accepted high school seniors who are nominated to receive a Randall Scholarship, Trustee Scholarship, or Wesleyan Heritage Award. Students may receive only one renewable award (Randall, Trustee or Heritage) per year. The Randall, Trustee and Heritage awards are reserved for first-time, full-time freshmen only.

The Heritage Day scholarship event is designed to provide participants the opportunity to further investigate Dakota Wesleyan University’s academic and cocurricular programs. Nominee interviews will be scheduled in the morning. Following the interviews, students and parents will have the opportunity to meet personally with faculty, staff and students, as well as attend information sessions about our three colleges, our unique Center for Talent Development, athletics and campus life. A luncheon honoring all Heritage Day participants and their families will close the program Monday afternoon.

RANDALL SCHOLARS

Accepted high school seniors are automatically eligible if they have at least a 3.75 cumulative GPA or are in the top 10 percent of their high school class, and have a 27 ACT/1210 SAT (V+M) or higher.
Randall Scholars must meet the nomination criteria AND attend the Wesleyan Heritage Day*. The scholarship is renewable if the student maintains a 3.0 GPA and remains in good standing

TRUSTEE SCHOLARS

Accepted high school seniors are automatically eligible if they have at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA or are in the top 20 percent of their high school class, and have a 24 ACT/1090 SAT (V+M) or higher.
Trustee Scholars must meet the nomination criteria AND attend the Wesleyan Heritage Day*. The scholarship is renewable if the student maintains a 2.75 GPA and remains in good standing.

WESLEYAN HERITAGE AWARD
Up to $10,000; $2,500 each year for four years

The Wesleyan Heritage Award recognizes students who have excelled outside the classroom in extracurricular activities, church involvement, community service, fine arts or other areas. This award is not applicable for Randall Scholars, Trustee Scholars or any scholar-athlete.

Accepted high school seniors are eligible based on their leadership and involvement. The DWU values of learning, leadership, faith and service form the categories for awards.
To be eligible for a Wesleyan Heritage Award, students should make their involvement known through their application for admission, as well as their contact with their admissions counselor. Nominees should participate in the Wesleyan Heritage Day scholarship event to be considered for an award*.
Students receiving a Wesleyan Heritage Award must participate in at least one cocurricular event per semester while attending Dakota Wesleyan University.

*Students who are not able to attend a Wesleyan Heritage Day due to conflict in schedule with high school activities may request the opportunity to do an individual on-campus interview through their admissions counselor.
