Chargers Defeat Tigers 75-64

Sioux City, Iowa — Briar Cliff University led the entire game as the Chargers defeated Dakota Wesleyan University, 75-64, in Great Plains Athletic Conference women’s basketball action on Saturday afternoon (Dec. 2) in Sioux City, Iowa.

The loss was the seventh in a row for the Tigers who fall to 2-7 overall and 0-3 in the GPAC. Briar Cliff improves to 4-7 overall and 2-2 in conference play.

DWU trailed by 14 at halftime and fell behind by as many as 18 in the second half. Turnovers were a problem for the Tigers and they had 23 in the game.

Kayla Boyd scored a game-high 27 points for the Chargers, going a perfect 16-16 from the free throw line. As a team, BCU was 33-40 from the line while DWU was 17-20.

Whitney Gard came off the bench to lead DWU with 17 points. She connected on three 3-pointers. Adria Pazour added 15 points and led the Tigers with six rebounds.

Dakota Wesleyan returns home on Wednesday (Dec. 6) to face nationally-ranked Morningside College at 6 p.m. at the Corn Palace.
