Broughton Named GPAC Player-of-the-Week

Preston BroughtonSioux City, Iowa —Dakota Wesleyan University forward Preston Broughton has been named the Great Plains Athletic Conference/Hauff Mid-America Sports Men’s Basketball Player-of-the-Week for games played Nov. 27-Dec. 2, 2006.

Broughton, a sophomore from Corsica, S.D., averaged a double-double with 21.5 points and 11 rebounds per game in a pair of Tiger victories in conference play. For the week, he shot 70 percent from the field converting 16-23 shots.

He scored 21 points and had 13 rebounds in the win over Mount Marty College, and then added 22 points in the Tiger’s 79-74 win at Briar Cliff University.

Broughton has been the team’s leading scorer and rebounder in the absence of All-American Brock Seim who has been sidelined with injury. He is averaging 15.4 points and 7.4 rebounds per game.

Dakota Wesleyan is now 8-1 overall and 3-1 in the GPAC. The Tigers take on Morningside College on Wednesday (Dec. 6) at the Corn Palace.
