DWU Rally Comes Up Short at Augustana

Sioux Falls, S.D. — Dakota Wesleyan got within four points at the 3:48 mark, but Augustana held off the Tiger rally as the Vikings earned a 70-57 win in men’s basketball action on Wednesday (Dec. 13) at the Elmen Center in Sioux Falls, S.D.

DWU, which moved up to No. 14 in the latest NAIA Division II National Top 25, falls to 10-2 overall. NCAA Division II Augustana moves to 9-2 overall.

The Tigers trailed by 10 points throughout the majority of the second half until just under four minutes when they got within four points. Nick Olson hit a big 3-pointer with 2:14 to play to end any hopes of a DWU upset.

Kevin Talley was the lone Tiger to reach double figures with 14 points. The Tigers shot just 37 percent from the field and hit six 3-pointers. DWU was a perfect 11-11 from the free throw line.

Brock Seim scored seven points but led the Tigers with 10 rebounds as the Tigers outrebounded the Vikings in a very physical contest.

Ian Thomas led Augustana with 13 points, while Nick Olson had 10 points.

DWU will be back in action on Saturday (Dec. 16) when they host Dakota State at 4 p.m., in the Corn Palace.
