Nov. 3, 2006 Men Defeat Yellow Jackets in Home Opener Mitchell, S.D.— The Dakota Wesleyan men’s basketball team pleased the Corn Palace crowd with an 84-73 victory over Black Hills State University in its home opener on Friday night (Nov. 3) in Mitchell, S.D. The Tigers (2-0) shot 62.5 percent from the field in the second half to overcome a four-point halftime deficit. After shooting just 9-28 from the field in the first half, BHSU led 38-34 at halftime. All-American Brock Seim led the Tigers with 26 points and nine rebounds. He played all but the final 15 seconds of the game, despite battling an injured left hand. Kevin Talley added 13 points, while Greg Walker came off the bench to score 12 points and grab five rebounds in his debut in a DWU uniform. Preston Broughton finished with nine points, scoring all of his points in the second half. Elliot Neuheisel came off the bench to grab six rebounds. For BHSU, Sam Kim had 20 points for the Yellow Jackets. Dakota Wesleyan will be right back in action on Saturday (Nov. 4) to close out a busy opening week with a game against South Dakota Tech at 7:30 p.m. |
