Nov. 5, 2006 Wrestlers Open Season at Daktronics Open Brookings, S.D.— The Dakota Wesleyan University wrestling team opened the 2006-07 season on Saturday (Nov. 4) at the Daktronics/Warren Williamson Open at South Dakota State University in Brookings, S.D. More than 200 wrestlers from 17 different schools competed. Augustana's Nate Buys was voted the Outstanding Wrestler, while David Greenwald of Iowa Central recorded the Most Pins award. Two Dakota Wesleyan wrestlers won two matches in the season opener. Senior Ben Sevigny went 2-2 at 133 pounds, while freshman Danny Hutcheson went 2-0 at 141 pounds before withdrawing due to injury. Thomas Konechne finished 1-2 at 149 pounds and Andrew Leggott went 1-2 at 125 pounds. Those two wrestlers join Sevigny as returning national qualifiers. The Tigers will be at home this weekend, when they host the University of Regina in a dual at 6 p.m. on Friday (Nov. 10) at Christen Wellness Center. On Saturday (Nov. 11) the Tigers host the DWU Open beginning at 9 a.m. |
