Two DWU Soccer Players Named All-Region III

Mitchell, S.D. — Dakota Wesleyan University freshman forward Juan Baltazar and freshman defender Kaleb Herring were both named to the NAIA Region III All-Region men’s soccer team that was announced on Tuesday (Nov. 7).

Baltazar set the DWU season record with 20 goals. The Elsa, Texas, native had six game-winning goals on the season. He scored three goals in one game in three different matches. He also had six assists on the season.

Herring started 17 games as a defender this season. The Waco, Texas native was the team leader on the field, while scoring four goals as a defender.

Dakota Wesleyan finished the 2006 season with a 9-8-1 overall record, advancing to the Final Four of the NAIA Region III Tournament. The Tigers finished 8-3-1 in conference play, finishing third in the Great Plains Athletic Conference in their first year of GPAC play.
