Index of Sports Press Releases Nov. 9, 2006 Dakota Wesleyan Wrestling to Host DWU Open Saturday Mitchell, S.D. — The Dakota Wesleyan University wrestling team will host the DWU Open Saturday (Nov. 11) with matches beginning at 9 a.m. in Fosness Arena at the Christen Family Recreation/Wellness Center. The Tigers will kick off their busy weekend of competition by hosting the University of Regina Friday (Nov. 10) in a dual. The dual will begin at 6 p.m. at the Wellness Center. On Saturday, around 150-180 wrestlers are expected for the tournament. Dakota Wesleyan head wrestling coach Josh Hardman is expecting a very competitive field for the DWU Open. Four different mats will have matches going on throughout the day. “Saturday will be an exciting day for college wrestling,” Coach Hardman said. “This open features several very talented individual wrestlers so it is a good opportunity for area fans to see college wrestling at a high level.” 14 teams are scheduled to compete on Saturday at DWU. GPAC schools competing will be Briar Cliff, Morningside, Northwestern, and Sioux Falls. Other NAIA schools will be Dickinson State University, William Penn University and the University of Regina. NCAA Division II schools, Northern State University, St. Cloud State University, Southwest Minnesota State University and nationally-ranked Augustana College. NCAA Division III St. Olaf and Minnesota West Community College are also expected to compete. |
