Over 200 Wrestlers Take Part in DWU Open

Mitchell, S.D.— 208 wrestlers and 14 teams took part in the 10th Annual DWU/Holiday Inn Open on Saturday in Fosness Arena at the Christen Family Recreation/Wellness Center.

Chas Welch from Northern State University was named the Most Outstanding Wrestler for the tournament while Ryan Orel from Minnesota West Community College had the most pins.

For Dakota Wesleyan, senior Ben Sevigny was the top placer going 2-3 at 133 pounds placing 6th place.

Freshman Jordan Harer went 4-2 at 133 pounds and ended up in the 7th place match, which was not wrestled.

Another freshman, Malik Stewart, went 2-2 at 125 pounds. No other Tiger wrestler earned more than one win.

Tony Duarte wrestled unattached at 174 pounds and went 5-2 to place fifth.
