Index of Sports Press Releases Nov. 15, 2006 14 DWU Football Players Earn All-GPAC Honors Sioux City, Iowa — The 2006 Great Plains Athletic Conference Football All-Conference team has been selected after a vote of the league coaches on Sunday (Nov. 12) at Dana College in Blair, Neb. 14 Dakota Wesleyan University players received recognition from the GPAC. Senior defensive lineman Lionel Riley was named to the All-GPAC first team. Riley finished the season with 69 total tackles. He tied for the team lead with 4.0 quarterback sacks. He was a second-team All-GPAC selection as a junior in 2005. Two Tiger players, Tyron Arrington and Eric Washington, were named to the All-GPAC second-team. Arrington led the GPAC with 61 receptions. He broke the DWU single season for catches in a season. He finished the year ranked eighth in the NAIA in receptions. Washington led the Tigers with 92 total tackles. He had eight interceptions, to rank third in the NAIA. Three games this season Washington recorded two interceptions in one game. He ranked second in the GPAC in total tackles. Jon Doom, Bubba Slaba and Will Walker received honorable mention All-GPAC honors on offense for DWU. Alyx Allen, Derek Ashley, Rod Hawkins, Brett Maag, Grant Rawlings, Chris Sheckler and Daniel Wysong were honorable mention All-GPAC honors on defense, while Nick Tolsma received honorable mention All-GPAC honors as a special teams performer. Northwestern College linebacker Austin Janssen was the Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Player of the Year, while Kalen De Boer from the University of Sioux Falls was named the Hauff Mid-America/GPAC Coach of the Year.
