Baseball Team Ranked in Preseason NAIA Poll

MITCHELL, S.D.— The Dakota Wesleyan University baseball team received votes in the NAIA Baseball preseason national rating that was released on Nov. 15. The Tigers were 35th in the poll receiving 13 total votes.

DWU is ranked second in NAIA Region III. Jamestown College was ranked 17th in the poll and is the top team in Region III.

The Tigers are the only team from the Great Plains Athletic Conference that received votes in the preseason poll.

Dakota Wesleyan finished the 2006 season with a 29-22 overall record. The Tigers advanced to championship Saturday at the NAIA Region III Tournament, the farthest a DWU baseball team has ever advanced in the postseason.

DWU returns four starting position players and two pitchers out of the starting rotation. DWU head coach Adam Neisius, the all-time winningest coach at DWU, also brought in a fantastic recruiting class with several players who will make immediate impacts.

The Tigers season opener is scheduled for Feb. 3, 2007 at St. Gregory’s University in Shawnee, Okla.
