DWU Wrestling Ranked #17 in NAIA Poll

MITCHELL, S.D. — The Dakota Wesleyan University wrestling team debuted at No. 17 in the initial NAIA Wrestling ratings that were released on Nov. 15.

DWU was never ranked in the top 20 during the 2005-06 season.

Junior heavyweight wrestler Lionel Riley is the only individual that is ranked in the top eight. Riley is No. 3 in the 285 pound weight division. He placed eighth to earn All-America honors at the 2006 National Tournament. He has yet to wrestle this season as he just joined the team after football season.

Four of the six Great Plains Athletic Conference schools that offer wrestling are ranked in the top 20. Returning National Champion Dana College is ranked 12th, Morningside College 13th and Northwestern College is ranked 16th.

DWU is 1-0 in duals this season. The Tigers are taking part in the Augie Brute/Adidas Open this Saturday (Nov. 18) in Minneapolis, Minn.
