Index of Sports Press Releases Nov. 17, 2006 #6 Lady T’s Use Big Second Half for Win Madison, S.D. — Sixth-ranked Dakota State University opened the second half with a 18-4 and pulled away for a 86-57 victory in women’s basketball action on Friday (Nov. 17) at Madison, S.D. The Tigers (2-4) trailed just 39-32 at halftime, but the Lady T’s (5-2) made seven of their first 10 shots of the second half to open up a big lead and the Tigers never got within 11 points in the second half. DWU struggled from the field again shooting just 37.7 percent from the field and 28.6 percent from 3-point range. The much larger Lady T’s outrebounded the Tigers 40-28 and dominated the paint. Center Maria Gengler led Dakota State with 18 points and seven rebounds. The Tigers were led by Kelly Haiar who scored 18 points on 7-9 shooting. Kara Overweg was only other player to reach double figures for the Tigers with 13 points. DWU will open up GPAC play on Tuesday (Nov. 21) when they travel to Sioux Falls, S.D., to face the University of Sioux Falls. |
