Index of Sports Press Releases Nov. 27, 2006 Baltazar and Herring Named NAIA All-American
Mitchell, S.D. — Dakota Wesleyan University freshmen men’s soccer players Juan Baltazar and Kaleb Herring were both named to the 2006 NAIA Men’s Soccer All-American team. Both players were named honorable mention All-America. They become the first DWU players ever to be named All-American. Baltazar set the DWU season record with 20 goals. The Elsa, Texas, native had six game-winning goals on the season. He scored three goals in one game in three different matches. He also had six assists on the season. Baltazar was an All-GPAC first-team selection and also earned All-Region honors. Herring started 17 games as a defender this season. The Waco, Texas native was the team leader on the field, while scoring four goals as a defender. Herring also was a first-team All-GPAC selection and was honored with All-Region recognition. Dakota Wesleyan finished the 2006 season with a 9-8-1 overall record,
advancing to the Final Four of the NAIA Region III Tournament. The
Tigers finished 8-3-1 in conference play, finishing third in the Great
Plains Athletic Conference in their first year of GPAC play. |
