The Tigers loss, along with Mount Marty College’s upset win over Briar Cliff University, drops DWU to ninth place in the GPAC standings with two matches remaining. The top eight teams in the GPAC qualify for the GPAC Postseason Tournament. DWU is looking to qualify for the first time since 2003. DWU (9-21, 4-10 GPAC) battled tough in all three games with the Mustangs (17-14, 6-7) but could not get ahead in the end. Morningside won the three games, 30-27, 30-25, 31-29. Morningside was led by Cassie Cheever who had 18 kills and a .406 hitting percentage in the mage. Katie Kotlik had 37 assists. The Tigers have two matches remaining this season, on Saturday (Oct. 28) at Briar Cliff, and next Tuesday (Oct. 31) at home against Sioux Falls. DWU is one game back of Mt. Marty who also has two GPAC matches remaining. The Lancers travel to Nebraska Wesleyan and host GPAC leading Northwestern College. If Mount Marty and DWU end the season tied in the standings, the Tigers would earn the final spot due to the Tigers win in the head-to-head match up. |
