DWU Women End Season with Loss

Mitchell, S.D.—The Dakota Wesleyan University women’s soccer team ended its 2006 season with a 2-0 loss to the University of Minnesota-Morris on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 28) at Cadwell Park in Mitchell, S.D. The Tigers finished their season with a 2-15-1 overall record in the second season of soccer at DWU.

DWU was shutout for the sixth straight match and the Tigers lost their final eight matches of the 2006 season.

Minnesota-Morris scored one goal in each half to earn the 2-0 win on Saturday. Elisabeth Fischbein scored the first goal at the 33:18 mark in the first half and then Andrea Carroll-Franck scored at the 68:53 mark in the second half for the second goal.

The Tigers managed just three total shots in the match, while the Cougars had 18 total shots with nine on goal.

DWU goalie Danielle Richardson recorded seven saves for the Tigers in goal.

Dakota Wesleyan finished the 2006 season with just 14 goals on the season, scoring goals in only five of 16 matches played.

Seniors Jessica Braun and Steffanie Cushard both played their final games in a DWU Tiger uniform. They were the only two senior members of the Tigers squad.
