Men’s Soccer to Host Dordt in Region Tournament

Mitchell, S.D. — The Dakota Wesleyan men’s soccer team has received the No. 3 seed and will host the sixth seed Dordt College on Tuesday (Oct. 31) at 1 p.m. at Cadwell Park in the first round of the 2006 NAIA Region III Men’s Soccer Tournament. The other first round match will have #4 Morningside College hosting #5 Dana College. Hastings College is the top seed and receives a bye, along with #2 Northwestern College.

The winner of the DWU/Dordt match will advance to the NAIA Region III Final Four on Friday and Saturday (Nov. 3-4) at Hastings, Neb. The DWU/Dordt winner will face #2 Northwestern College on Friday night at 7 p.m.

The winner of the NAIA Region III Tournament automatically qualifies for the NAIA National Men’s Soccer Championships which will take place on November 15-21 in Daytona Beach, Fla., at Embry Riddle University.

DWU has a 8-7-1 record on the season while Dordt comes into the match with a 10-6-1 overall record. The Defenders won the only match of the season, 3-2, on Oct. 17 in Sioux Center, Iowa.
