Aug. 28, 2007 Baseley Leads Tigers to 28-Stroke Victory
Mitchell, S.D. — Dakota Wesleyan women’s golfers had four players place in the top four individually as the Tiger women’s golf team shot a team score of 316 to win the team title of the Hampton Inn/DWU Invitational by 28 strokes on Tuesday (Aug. 28) at Wild Oak Golf Club in Mitchell, S.D. Sophomore Kelli Baseley shot a 3-over 75 to win individual medalist honors. Baseley fired an even par 36 on the front nine and 39 on the back despite playing in wet and rainy conditions at Wild Oak. Other Tiger golfers in the top four were freshman Abby Wheeling in third with a 79, while sophomores Cassidy Potter and Heather Love each tied for fourth with an 81. Brittany Hofer from the University of Sioux Falls was second with a score of 77 to help the Cougars to a second place finish in the team race. Four other DWU golfers also participated in the four-team event. Amber Raisanen shot an 87, Carly Hayes a 91, Roxy Miller a 96 and Kaylea Karst a 102 in their first collegiate tournament action. Wayne State College from Nebraska was third with a team score of 372, while Northwestern College had a score of 392. The DWU women will be back in action on Friday (Aug. 31) when they travel to Orange City, Iowa to take part in the Lady Red Raider Invitational. |
