Dec. 2, 2007 Hot Shooting Doane Beats DWU 77-68 Crete, Neb. — The Doane women shot 60.8 percent from the field for the game and Lindsay Anderson scored a game-high 34 points as the Tigers defeated Dakota Wesleyan 77-68 in GPAC women’s basketball action on Saturday afternoon (Dec. 1) in Crete, Neb. The loss gives DWU a 5-5 overall record and 2-1 GPAC record, while Doane improves to 6-5 and 2-1 in the GPAC. Doane led the entire game and held a 42-31 lead at halftime after shooting 60.0 percent from the floor in the first half. The Tigers led by as many as 16 points in the second half. DWU tied the game at 24-24 with 6:24 to play before halftime. Doane then went on a 16-2 scoring run over the next five minutes and DWU could not recover. Anderson was the story of the game for Doane scoring 34 points on 12-17 shooting. She was 4-6 from 3-point range. Vanessa Hunter was the only other player to reach double figures with 12 points. Dakota Wesleyan ended the game shooting 46.3 percent from the floor. Three players reached double figures in scoring. Leading scorer Allison Johnson ended the game with 12 points as the only starter to score in double figures. Kaylea Karst and Angela Noteboom both came off the bench to have big games. Noteboom had 12 points and led DWU with eight rebounds, while Karst scored 11 points in 17 minutes. DWU returns home on Wednesday (Dec. 5) when they host Northwestern College at 6 p.m. at the Corn Palace. |
