Dec. 6, 2007 DWU Drops Pair of Wrestling Duals Mitchell, S.D. — The Dakota Wesleyan wrestling team lost a pair of duals to nationally ranked teams on Thursday night at the Christen Wellness Center. The Tigers lost #11 Morningside College, 31-9, in a GPAC dual and then closed the night with a 26-15 loss to #15 Jamestown College. Against Morningside, Dakota Wesleyan had three individual winners. Andrew Leggott opened the dual with a 14-12 decision to give DWU a 3-0 lead. At 157 pounds, Danny Hutcheson got a 7-4 decision and the other Tiger victory was Tony Duarte’s 4-1 decision at 165 pounds. Morningside had two falls, a technical fall and two major decisions to go along with two other decision victories. Dakota Wesleyan led 9-0 early in the Jamestown dual. Leggott won by forfeit and Jordan Harer got a 4-1 decision at 133 pounds. The Jimmies then came back to take a 10-9 lead after a major decision and a fall. The Tigers then won the next two matches to take a 15-10 lead. Hutcheson picked up another 7-4 decision victory at 157 pounds. Duarte rallied from eight down to get a 14-12 decision in the most exciting match of the night. The Jimmies then won the next four matches to pick up the team victory. The Dakota Wesleyan wrestlers travel to St. Cloud, Minn., this Saturday (Dec. 8) to take part in the Husky Open. This will be the final wrestling competition before the Christmas holiday. |
