Nov. 3, 2007 Cross Country Ends Season at Region III Championships Sioux Falls, S.D. — The Dakota Wesleyan University cross country teams finished the 2007 season on Saturday (Nov. 3) as the Tiger runners competed at the NAIA Region III Championships at Elmwood Golf Course in Sioux Falls, S.D. The DWU men finished 13th out of 16 teams, while the DWU women finished 18th. Black Hills State University won the men’s team race and Concordia University was the women’s team champion. Sophomore Thomas Madut was the top DWU runner placing 45th overall in the men’s 8K race with a time of 26:56.67. Isaac VanDyke was next finishing 63rd overall crossing the line in a time of 27:32.20. Brandon Hislop placed 88th, Jason Lanning was 98th and Forrest Lumpry finished 118th to round out the DWU top five. The top runner for the DWU women was Heidi Birkley. Birkley ran a time of 21:33.06 to place 95th. Amy McIntyre was the next highest placer finishing 121st. Abby Mettler (132nd), Paula Mettler (137th) and Katherine Clayton (152nd) were the other three DWU women runners. Byron Williams is the lone senior on the DWU men’s cross country roster and the Tigers lose Amy McIntyre and Paula Mettler as seniors on the women’s roster. |
