Nov. 7, 2007 Two DWU Volleyball Players Earn All-GPAC Honors
Mitchell, S.D. — Two Dakota Wesleyan University volleyball players received Great Plains Athletic Conference honors announced Wednesday (Nov. 7). Senior Kalie Whealy was named to the All-GPAC Second-Team, while junior Dena Kopfmann was named All-GPAC honorable mention. Whealy (6-1, MB), a native of Madison, S.D., averaged 2.95 kills per game and led the team with a .317 hitting percentage, which is seventh in the GPAC. The team captain also had a team-high 120 total blocks. For her career, she finished with 943 kills to rank fifth on the DWU all-time charts. Whealy becomes a three-time All-GPAC Second-Team selection after earning the honors after her sophomore, junior and senior seasons. Kopfmann (5-9, LIB), a native of Minneota, Minn., was the Tigers libero this season. She recorded a team-high 493 digs and also led the Tigers with 56 service aces. She ranks second in the GPAC in service aces and seventh in digs. She now has 1,175 digs in her career to rank fourth in DWU history. Kopfmann also earned All-GPAC honorable mention honors as a freshman in 2005. Dakota Wesleyan finished the season with a 6-23 overall record. |
