Nov. 9, 2007 Valley City Blows Out Tigers 86-60 Mitchell, S.D. — Valley City University jumped out to a 22 point lead at halftime and cruised to a 86-60 victory over Dakota Wesleyan University in NAIA II men’s basketball action on Friday (Nov. 9) at the Corn Palace in Mitchell, S.D. Valley City improves to 3-1 overall while DWU falls to 2-1. DWU shot just 36.4 percent from the field, including 4-23 (.174) from 3-point range as the Vikings dominated in all facets of the game. Valley City shot 52.4 percent from the field in the first half and finished at 49.3 percent for the game. Four different players reached double figures in scoring for VCSU. The Vikings led by as many as 33 points late in the second half. The Tigers never could get on track offensively as DWU entered the game averaging 90 points per game. Just two players reached double figures in scoring. Ike Muoneke led DWU with 11 points, while Preston Broughton added 10 points and eight rebounds. VCSU was led by Raymond King who scored 16 points. DWU will be right back in action on Saturday (Nov. 10) when they host 8th-ranked Jamestown College at 6 p.m. at the Corn Palace. |
