18 Teams Compete at DWU Open

Mitchell, S.D. — A total of 18 teams and 262 individuals took part in the 2007 Dakota Wesleyan Open on Saturday (Nov. 10) on the campus of Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, S.D.

Dickinson State University and Buena Vista University both had three individual champions. Other teams with individual champions were Newman University, Morningside College and South Dakota State University.

Dakota Wesleyan was led by senior Tony Duarte who placed fifth at 165 pounds. With his fifth place finish, Duarte qualifies for the NAIA National Tournament in March in Sioux City, Iowa.

The Tigers open up their Great Plains Athletic Conference dual schedule on Wednesday (Nov. 14) when they travel to Hastings, Neb., to take on Hastings College in the first ever wrestling dual at Hastings College.
