Nov. 10, 2007 Hot Shooting Jimmies Down Tigers, 101-83 Mitchell, S.D. — 8th-ranked Jamestown College hit 17 of its first 18 shots of the second half and finished the game shooting 63.0 percent from the floor as the Jimmies defeated Dakota Wesleyan University, 101-83, in a NAIA II men’s basketball game on Saturday night (Nov. 10) at the Corn Palace in Mitchell, S.D. DWU falls to 2-2 overall, while No. 8 Jamestown improves to 3-2. The Tigers led 40-34 at halftime and held the lead until the 16:39 mark before Jamestown took the lead for good. The Jimmies were 10-13 from 3-point range in the second half. Jamestown scored 46 points in the first 11 minutes of the second half, and only missed one field goal attempt until the 8:19 mark of the second half. They extended the lead to as many as 20 points in the second half. Dakota Wesleyan junior Preston Broughton was a bright spot for the Tigers in the loss. The Corsica, S.D., native scored 33 points and had five points. He was 14-23 from the field and 3-5 from 3-point range. Senior Andrew Lasche hit five 3-pointers to score 15 points, while Chase Walder and Ike Muoneke each scored 10 points. DWU shot 47.5 percent Four players scored in double figures for Jamestown led by Jake Holen with 22 points. Dakota Wesleyan will look to end its two-game losing streak on Thursday (Nov. 15) when they host Nebraska Christian College at 8 p.m. at the Corn Palace. |
