MITCHELL, S.D. — Dakota Wesleyan head women’s golf coach Adam Anderson has announced that Danielle Bellet has signed a letter of intent to compete for the Tigers during the 2008-09 season.

Bellet, a senior at Lead-Deadwood H.S., is a two-time South Dakota All-State golfer. She placed third at the South Dakota Class “A” State Golf Tournament as a sophomore in 2006 and finished fifth at the 2007 State Tournament as a junior. She was the conference champion as a sophomore and placed third as a junior. Last season she placed first at the Region meet after taking fifth place as a sophomore.

Bellet had a stroke average of 82 as a junior, and has been a part of three straight Class “A” State Championship teams at Lead-Deadwood High School.

“Danielle is one of the top three senior high school girls in the whole state of South Dakota for golf, and an All-State player at the class ‘A’ level, so she is a wonderful recruit for our women’s golf program,” Anderson said. “I am extremely excited for Danielle choosing DWU. She will have a great college golf career and attain a wonderful education”

Bellet, a native of Lead, S.D., placed first in the 2nd flight of the 2007 South Dakota Women’s Amateur Tournament that was played in Mitchell. She is also ranked No. 2 in her class out of 70 students and has made the honor roll for three years. She is the daughter of Les and Cindy Bellet of Lead, S.D.

“I am most proud of Danielle for being a leader in her school, community, and on her golf team,” Anderson added. “She leads by example, and that’s exactly what we look for. She has a very bright future at Dakota Wesleyan.

The DWU women’s golf program placed second at the 2007 GPAC Championships and qualified for the NAIA Region III Tournament this spring. The Tigers will look to qualify for the NAIA National Championships for the fifth straight season.
