The match was a makeup game from one week ago when rain in Mitchell forced the game to be postponed and move to Hastings. The Broncos move to 10-3-1 overall and 8-2 in the GPAC to remain in first place in the conference standings. DWU falls to 4-10 overall and 3-8 in the GPAC. The Tigers are now officially eliminated from the postseason. Dakota Wesleyan also lost a 4-0 decision on Saturday afternoon to Midland Lutheran College in Fremont, Neb. Against the Broncos on Sunday, Hastings jumped out to a 1-0 halftime lead as Joel Pedroza scored in the 41st minute off a corner kick from John Major. DWU tied the game in the final minutes of the match as Preston Thomas found the net in the 87th minute off a corner kick and assist from Kyle Cathey. The game was tied 1-1 after regulation and neither team was able to score in the first 10 minute overtime so a second overtime was forced. Quinlan then scored the unassisted goal at the 104:26 mark to end the game. Dakota Wesleyan will close out its 2007 season on Wednesday (Oct. 24) with a GPAC match at Mount Marty College in Yankton, S.D. |
