April 3, 2008 Hoek Named GPAC Men’s Golfer-of-the-Week
SIOUX CITY, IOWA — Dakota Wesleyan University senior Tom Hoek has been named the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Men’s Golfer-of-the-Week for the week of March 24-30. Hoek, a De Smet native, was the top individual Dakota Wesleyan performer after the Tigers played in three events last week. At the Oklahoma Christian Invite, he tied for 19th with a three-round score of 229 (77-71-81). Hoek was the top medalist at the Southeast Community College Invite with a two-day total of 149 (76-73), and he finished fifth at the Bethel College Invite with a 143 (70-73). While in Oklahoma and Kansas, the Tigers played against several top-25 teams. This is the second time this spring season that a Tiger men’s golfer has won the GPAC Player-of-the-Week honor. Sophomore Nick Gates received the honor for the week of March 10-16. The DWU men’s golf team will hit the road again this week as they will compete in the Grandview College Invite on April 6-7 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. |
