DWU Seeded Fifth in GPAC Baseball Tournament

SIOUX CITY, IOWA — The Dakota Wesleyan University baseball team received the fifth seed for the 2008 Great Plains Athletic Conference Postseason Baseball Tournament which will begin on Thursday, May 1 at Harmodon Park in Sioux Falls.

The Tigers will face the fourth-seeded Midland Lutheran College on Thursday at 11 a.m. If DWU wins game one, they will play at 3 p.m. against the Northwestern College-Hastings College winner. If the Tigers lose game one, they will play at 3 p.m. against the loser of Northwestern and Hastings in an elimination game.

The eight-team double elimination tournament will run May 1-3.

DWU lost to Midland Lutheran in the regular season GPAC doubleheader. The Tigers are 21-19 overall and 14-10 in conference play, and the Warriors finished the regular season at 23-19 overall and 14-10 in the GPAC.

Northwestern College finished the regular season as the GPAC champion with a 25-14 overall record and was 18-6 in conference play. Northwestern receives an automatic bid to the NAIA Region III Championships on May 7-10. The winner of the GPAC postseason tournament also will receive an automatic bid to the Region III championships.
