April 29, 2008 Tiger Softball Ends Season on the Road
SEWARD, NEB. — The Dakota Wesleyan University softball team lost 7-2 and 8-2 to Concordia University in a GPAC doubleheader to end the season on Tuesday (April 29). In the first game, the Tigers managed to get 11 hits in 32 at-bats compared to Concordia’s 10 hits. However, DWU left 10 runners stranded and only scored two runs. Amy Torgerson went 1-4 with one RBI, and Lindsey Cooper ended the first game 1-3 with one RBI. Sarah Wells and Makinna Meeks each added two hits for the Tigers. Torgerson pitched all six innings for Wesleyan, and gave up seven runs off 10 hits. Valerie Spencer took the mound for DWU in the second game. Spencer gave up eight runs off 11 hits and struck out three. Meeks led the Tiger bats going 2-4 with two RBIs. Annie Martinez was 2-3, and Cooper and Wells each added a hit. DWU will end the season 13-22 overall and 8-16 in GPAC play. The Tigers have three seniors who played their final game in a DWU softball uniform: Lindsey Cooper, Sarah Wells and Meghan Hauck. |
