Aug. 15, 2008 DWU hosts youth soccer camp MITCHELL, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University men’s and women’s soccer teams hosted a youth soccer camp this week at Cadwell Park in Mitchell, and both the coaches and campers think it was a huge success. The camp was led by Tiger head women’s soccer coach Dale Roden and new head men’s interim coach Kyle Cathey. Roden and Cathey were assisted by Brady Schmidt, Justin Mitchell, Adolfo Gonzalez, Mason Hebert, Shiloh Barrett and Meoldy Howell. Roden was pleased with the turnout, which was 38 kids, ranging from ages 4 to 14. Campers were split up into four age-specific groups and taught skills and fundamentals through drills and scrimmages. “This was only my second summer conducting the DWU soccer camps, but it was really special to see many of the same faces return,” Roden said. “I look forward to having an opportunity to witness them progress throughout the future. “It is a great opportunity for some of our student-athletes to work closely with the youth of Mitchell. We would like to thank all the parents and participants. We hope to see you again next year and please bring a friend so we can make next year’s camp even bigger.”
