GPAC Postseason Tournament Brackets Released

Click HEREMITCHELL, S.D. — The Dakota Wesleyan University men’s basketball team received the third seed to earn a first-round bye in the 2008 Great Plains Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Postseason Tournament that begins on Tuesday, Feb. 26. The Dakota Wesleyan women’s basketball team received the No. 6 seed and will host No. 11-seed Dana College on Tuesday at the Corn Palace. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m.

The DWU men will meet the winner of the first-round game between No. 6-seed Hastings College and No. 11-seed Mount Marty College. The Hastings/Mount Marty winner will travel to the Corn Palace on Thursday, Feb. 28 to face the Tigers in the quarterfinals. Game time is set for 5 p.m.

The Dakota Wesleyan men defeated Hastings 72-60 on Jan. 13 at the Corn Palace and 70-64 on Feb. 2 in Hastings, Neb. The Tiger men also swept Mount Marty 3-0 this season. The Wesleyan victories over the Lancers were 88-73 on Dec. 21 in the championship game of the Saint Xavier Midwest Tournament, 80-62 on Jan. 13 in the Corn Palace, and 79-69 on Jan. 26 in Yankton. The Tiger men are 23-7 overall and 13-5 in GPAC play.

The DWU women defeated Dana College 75-60 on Feb. 10 at the Corn Palace. The winner of the women’s basketball game will travel to Hastings, Neb., on Thursday, Feb. 28 to take on No. 3-seed Hastings College.

Morningside College received the No. 1 seed in the women’s and men’s basketball tournaments and earns automatic bids to both national tournaments.
