Feb. 25, 2008 Thompson Leads DWU Track and Field at the GPAC Championships
LINCOLN, NEB. — Freshman Frank Thompson tied for fourth place in the men’s high jump to score points for the Dakota Wesleyan University’s men’s track and field team at the 2008 Great Plains Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday (Feb. 23). The DWU men scored three and a half points, and the women did not score any points. Thompson, from Trenton, N.J., had a jump of 6-04 to tie for fourth place and also placed ninth in the long jump with a jump of 21-00.75. With Thompson’s top-eight finish, he is automatically named an All-GPAC performer. Alex Liberty and Derik Fossum had top-10 finishes for the Tiger jumpers. Liberty placed 10th in the high jump and 10th in the pole vault. Fossum placed ninth in the triple jump with a jump of 43-07.75. Thomas Madut was the lone Tiger with a top-10 finish in the running events. Madut placed ninth in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 15:46.69. Doane’s women scored 197 points and won the team title, while the Doane men scored 219.5 points in winning the team championship. |
