Feb. 25, 2008 Stewart and Duarte Place for Tigers at NAIA North Regional BLAIR, NEB. — Malik Stewart and Tony Duarte placed for the Dakota Wesleyan University wrestling team as they competed at the NAIA North Regional Tournament on Saturday (Feb. 23). Stewart went 3-2 on the day and finished fifth at 125 pounds. He lost to top-seeded Cory Johnson of Dickinson State University to start the day but then won two consecutive matches in the wrestlebacks. Stewart defeated No. 2-seeded Kevin Gray of Dana College by forfeit and teammate Jeff Holmes 7-4. Duarte was the fourth-seeded wrestler at 165 pounds, and he finished the day going 1-3 and placed sixth. Duarte defeated fifth-seeded Carlyle Scott of Jamestown College 3-2 to open the day but was defeated by top-seeded Stanton Schlecht of Dickinson State in the semifinals. Other wrestlers who posted wins for the Tigers were Jordan Harer, 1-2 at 133 pounds, and Kyle Henderson, 1-2 at 184 pounds. Dickinson State won the regional tournament with 174 points. Dickinson had five champions and 12 place winners. Morningside College was second with 111 points, and Dana College finished third with 109 points.
