Mar. 3, 2008 Tiger Softball Team Drops Two to St. Gregory’s SHAWNEE, OKLA. — The Dakota Wesleyan University softball team lost to St. Gregory’s University 8-0 and 13-0 in a doubleheader on Saturday (Mar. 1). In the first game, the Tigers managed to get only one hit off 16 at bats and struck out 11 times. Makinna Meeks had the lone hit for the Tigers, while St. Gregory’s had 15 hits in 22 at bats. Christina Bonrud pitched four and one-third innings, striking out two and giving up eight earned runs. Amy Torgerson pitched for Wesleyan in the second game. Torgerson gave up 20 hits and struck out three in four innings. Dana Baxa and Ekekela Watson each had a hit for the Tigers. The Tigers (0-2 overall) will spend spring break in Oklahoma. Wesleyan is scheduled to play Oklahoma Baptist University in a doubleheader on Tuesday (Mar. 4) and Southwestern College in a doubleheader on Thursday (Mar. 6). The Tigers will also participate in the Oklahoma Baptist University Lady Bison Classic on Friday (Mar. 7) and Saturday (Mar. 8). |
