Mar. 26, 2008 Hoek Leads Tigers in Oklahoma City
OKLAHOMA CITY — Senior Tom Hoek had an individual score of 229 to lead the Dakota Wesleyan University men’s golf team to a 10th-place finish at the Oklahoma Christian University/Sleep Inn & Suites Classic on Monday (March 24) and Tuesday (March 25). Hoek, a De Smet, S.D., native, had rounds of 77-71-81 to finish tied for 19th individually. Brett Abbotts was next for the Tigers, finishing with a 238 and tied for 40th place. As a team, the Tigers were in 10th place after day one and were able to hold that position through day two. DWU ended the two-day, three-round tournament with a team score of 953. There were a total of 13 teams at the classic. Host-school Oklahoma Christian University won the event with a team score of 895, and Bruno Buccolo of Oklahoma Christian took the individual medalist honor with a three-round total of 216. The Tigers will stay on the road and compete on March 27-28 in the Southeast Community College Invite in Beatrice, Neb.
