Mar. 28, 2008 Broughton Named to NAIA Division II All-America Team
KANSAS CITY, MO. – Dakota Wesleyan University junior Preston Broughton added an additional honor to complete his season by being named a 2008 State Farm NAIA Division II Men’s Basketball All-America Team, as announced by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC). The State Farm NAIA Basketball All-America Teams represents the finest basketball players across America. Broughton, a Corsica native, led the Tigers in scoring (17.9 points per game) and rebounds (8.8 rebounds per game) and had 16 double-doubles throughout the season. He was third in the GPAC in scoring and second in rebounding. He reached his 1,000th career point on Feb. 9 when the Tigers hosted Dana College. Broughton was named All-GPAC First Team and was honored as the GPAC Player-of-the-Year this year. He was named GPAC Player-of-the-Week twice during this season. Earlier this month, Broughton was named NAIA Division II All-American First Team. He was named All-GPAC Second Team as a sophomore. The Tigers finished their second consecutive 20-win season with a 24-9 overall record. DWU advanced to the NAIA Division II National Tournament and lost to Aquinas College in the first round. 2008 State Farm
